Tutoring
centers exist in various forms around the Alliance. One-hundred
percent (100%) of alliance partners have tutoring or drop-in centers
at their institutions. They are uniquely designed to meet the students'
needs on each campus. They operate 12 months of the year and positively
impact the retention of students in the SCAMP program. Clemson University
has two centers -- one in engineering and one in science. Benedict
College has a science, math and engineering learning center, while
USC has a center located in the College of Science and Mathematics.
South Carolina State University has two centers, one in the nuclear
engineering department and one in the biological sciences department.
SCAMP students at Claflin University, Voorhees College and Midlands
Technical College have problem-solving/tutorial sessions, which
meet several times a week. The College of Charleston has established
a "Student Science Society" which meets bi-monthly in
the computer-learning center. |
